Halo Club

Community guidelines

Version 0.2, 25 September 2026

Halo Club works because members trust one another with their homes. These guidelines say what that trust asks of you. They form part of the terms of use, and the club may pause a listing or end a membership for a serious or repeated breach.

1. Treat homes as your own

When you stay in a member's home, treat it as you would want your own treated. Leave it as you found it, allowing for ordinary use. If something breaks, say so through the app straight away rather than hoping it goes unnoticed; a host is far more forgiving of an honest message than of a surprise.

2. Respect house rules

Every listing carries the host's house rules. Read them before you send a request and follow them during your stay. No parties, events, filming or commercial use unless the host has agreed in writing through the app.

3. No unregistered guests

Only the people named in the booking may stay at the home, up to the maximum number shown on the listing. If your plans change, ask the host through the app before anyone else arrives. A guest who brings people who are not named in the booking may have the stay cancelled under section 12 of the terms of use and their membership reviewed.

4. Be honest in your listing

A listing is a promise. Photographs must show the home as it is. The description must be accurate and complete, including anything a guest might be disappointed to find out on arrival. The calendar must be kept up to date. Cancel a confirmed booking only when you must: it harms the guest and the club.

5. Honest reviews

Write reviews from your own experience, about the stay itself. Be fair, be specific and leave out anything personal that has nothing to do with the stay. Every review is read by the club before it is published. We may refuse one that breaks these guidelines, and we will tell you why; you can edit it and send it again. We do not edit reviews ourselves. Reviews of a stay are held while a report about that stay is open. You have 14 days after check-out to leave one.

6. Keep it on the platform

Pay for a stay only through the app, and never ask another member to pay you outside it. A payment made off the platform leaves both members without the club's protection and breaks the terms of use. Use messages for the stay itself, not to sell, to recruit or to contact members for reasons unrelated to a stay.

7. Respect one another

Treat every member with courtesy, in messages and in person. Harassment, threats and discrimination of any kind have no place in the club. Another member's address and arrival instructions are shared with you only for a confirmed stay; do not pass them on or use them for anything else.

8. Report problems within 14 days

If something goes wrong, report it through the app within 14 days of check-out. A problem on arrival should be reported within 24 hours of discovering it, so that the host has a chance to put it right. The club hears both sides and decides on what it can verify. The outcome may be no action, a word with the member concerned, a paused listing, a refund or the ending of a membership.

9. What happens if these guidelines are broken

The club may pause a listing, hold a payout while a guest's report is open, refund a guest or end a membership. We will tell you our reasons and, except where the matter is urgent or the law prevents it, give you the chance to respond. Section 18 of the terms of use says more.
